Science Donors is the place where the public and science meet.
Our goal is for scientists to communicate directly with the public about their science projects and experiments. The public can in turn choose which science projects to help with donations. Donations can come in the form of money, advice, equipment, volunteer work and many other contributions. We believe this will help the public have a voice in science research. The public can also take some of the burden off of other funding sources such as the government. With scientists going directly to the people with their science projects, the scientists can focus more on research and less on grant writing, teaching, bureaucracy and other responsibilities not related to actual science.
Science Donors is a place where DIY scientists, science writers, science bloggers, university labs, science professors, science related business owners, technicians, teachers, students and so many other science minded people can get help with their science projects.
Science Donors Help Scientists Raise Research Funds
Whether you are a citizen scientist working from your home lab, a science blogger looking for help with hosting costs or a famous scientist looking for a little extra funding to complete your project, Science Donors aims to help you. Science Donors allows scientists to post projects and request funding from the general public.
Science Donors is a crowdfunding platform specifically designed to help fund science projects. From major research projects to science blogging, we allow users to post projects and generate additional funding.
What are Think Tanks?
We believe everyone can contribute to science. As such, we have set up Think Tanks within Science Donors. We are hoping that our Think Tanks will be treated as incubators for new research and ideas. Think Tanks allow everyone to contribute to science, regardless of income level or educational status. Our Think Tanks allow users to share ideas and participate in discussions in order to develop new lines of research.
Science projects can also have Think Tanks where users can participate in discussions and share ideas directly with the science project owners.
Contributors Help Choose
If you wish to donate to science, but don’t really know which project you would like to fund, you will have the option to donate to a general science fund. At the end of each month, we will ask our top five Think Tank contributors to decide which projects deserve additional funding. We will then distribute all money collected within the general science fund to the projects our Think Tank members have selected.
Rewards
We offer rewards and achievement badges for Science Donors members. Our Science Badges are virtual rewards which can be unlocked by participating in the Science Donors community or by donating to projects. Members can also earn Science Points which will be used as a virtual science donors currency at a later date.
